We are a new project to buy medical debt and cancel it, publish every purchase, and help people with the bills they have now.
The Medical Bill, Inc. is incorporated. Our federal tax-exempt status is not confirmed yet, so gifts may not qualify for a federal income tax deduction.
Our mission is to cancel medical debt and show our work.
Unpaid medical bills are often sold in bulk for a small fraction of what is owed. We raise money to buy that debt and cancel it, and we will post every cancellation on our public ledger.

- Every cancellation will be posted with its date, the debt we cancelled, the people it reached and the state. If something goes wrong, it goes on the record too.
- No tips, no pre-checked boxes
- We never add a tip at checkout, and every box starts empty. If you choose to help cover processing costs, you see the exact amount first.
- Plain language in 2 languages
- Guides, forms and receipts in everyday words. Each translation says whether a person has reviewed it yet.
- Privacy first
- We ask only for what a gift or a message needs, and we use no ad trackers.

What we are not
- We are not a debt settlement company, a collection agency or a lender. We never charge patients.
- We never collect medical debt. A debt we buy is cancelled, not collected.
