- A state is named only when at least 25 people in it got relief from that purchase. Otherwise the line reads Multiple states.
How we count.
Every number on this page comes from our own ledger and shows when it was read.
Face value is the amount people owed on the debts in a purchase, before we cancelled them. It is the figure we post as debt cancelled.
Each person whose debt in that purchase we cancelled, counted from the account records of those debts. We never publish who they are.
A purchase goes on the ledger when a second person on our team has checked and published it. Every total shows the time it was read. A mistake is corrected in the open, with a dated note.
Every figure we did not produce ourselves shows its source, the year of the data and when it was published. Survey figures and credit report figures measure different things, and we say which is which.
